Your day trip begins with an 8:30 AM pickup from your Marrakech hotel or riad by your private driver. Setting off toward Ait Benhaddou, the journey takes you across the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass, ascending to 2,260 meters in the High Atlas Mountains. This winding mountain road offers some of Morocco’s most dramatic scenery.
Enjoy breathtaking views and glimpses of traditional Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides. Several photo stops along the way allow you to capture the ever-changing landscape of rugged peaks and deep valleys.
We then reach the magnificent Ksar Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site designated in 1986. This iconic fortified village represents southern Moroccan architecture at its finest. You’ll have ample time to explore its winding alleyways, climb to the granary at the top for panoramic views, and discover why this location has served as a backdrop for so many films.
Hollywood productions filmed here include Gladiator, The Mummy, Lawrence of Arabia, and more recently the television series Game of Thrones. The kasbah’s striking appearance transports visitors back in time.
After free time for lunch at a local restaurant—often with views of the kasbah—the excursion continues to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Here, you’ll visit the renowned Atlas Film Studios, the largest in Morocco, where countless international productions have been brought to life. The tour also includes the historic Taourirt Kasbah, another significant heritage site that once served as the residence of the powerful Glaoui family.
Following the Ouarzazate visit, we begin the scenic return drive through the High Atlas Mountains. The afternoon light casts beautiful shadows across the mountain landscape as we descend toward Marrakech.
