Day 1 – Marrakech to Dades Valley (The High Atlas & Kasbahs)

Your 4-day excursion begins at 8:00 AM with a pick-up from your hotel or Riad in Marrakech. The journey heads east, climbing into the High Atlas Mountains. You’ll traverse the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters, with several stops at panoramic viewpoints for photos.

A significant pause comes at the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This stunning fortified Berber village is also a famous film location. You’ll have time to explore its alleyways and admire the architecture.

The route continues to Ouarzazate, where you can visit the renowned Atlas Film Studios, a hub of cinematic creativity. Afterwards, the drive leads toward the Dades Valley, passing charming Berber villages. In season, a stop at a Damascus Rose cooperative offers insight into local rose production. The day concludes with an overnight stay in the Dades Valley.

Day 2 – Dades Valley to Sahara Desert (Gorges & Camels)

After breakfast, the journey continues toward the impressive Todra Gorges. A short, 15-minute walk between the towering 300-meter-high cliffs lets you stretch your legs and soak in breathtaking views.

Leaving the gorges, the road leads toward the Sahara. You’ll arrive at the edge of the desert in Merzouga village by late afternoon. Here, a classic camel trek begins, carrying you into the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. The caravan pauses atop a high dune. You’ll witness a spectacular desert sunset before arriving at the traditional desert camp.

The evening unfolds with enchantment. A delicious dinner is served under the stars. Afterwards, gather around a bonfire and listen to the rhythmic beats of Berber drums played by local guides. A magical night awaits in a private tent.

Day 3 – Merzouga Sunrise to Ouarzazate (The Draa Valley Journey)

An early wake-up call rewards you with a spectacular sunrise over the desert dunes. Watch the first light transform the sand into a sea of gold. Afterwards, return to the main hotel by camel or 4×4. Breakfast and a refreshing shower prepare you for the day ahead.

Departing Merzouga, the first stop is the vibrant traditional market in Rissani. From there, the journey continues through the stunning Draa Valley, famous for its vast palm groves—one of the longest in Morocco. Several scenic stops allow you to admire the views and take beautiful photographs.

By evening, you arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” The night is spent in a beautiful Riad or hotel.

Day 4 – Ouarzazate to Marrakech (The Return Through the Atlas)

The final day of your 4-day Sahara tour begins with a return to Ait Ben Haddou. Morning light offers a beautiful opportunity to further explore the fortified village, perhaps noticing details missed on the first day.

Afterwards, the drive back to Marrakech begins, winding once more through the picturesque High Atlas Mountains. Scenic stops along the way provide photo opportunities. You can enjoy the last of the majestic mountain views before the descent.

Arrival in Marrakech comes by late afternoon. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the medina, marking the end of your 4-day desert Trip.
