6 Day Moroccan Tour from Marrakech to Tangier

Day 1 – Marrakech to Dades Valley (Atlas Mountains & Kasbahs)

Your 6-day adventure begins with a pickup from your Riad or Hotel in Marrakech at 8:30 AM. The journey heads south, climbing into the High Atlas Mountains. After about 1.5 hours, a first stop allows you to stretch your legs and use restroom facilities. The drive continues with two more panoramic stops to enjoy breathtaking mountain views.

By noon, we reach the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. Lunch awaits here, followed by time to explore the ancient fortress and its winding alleyways. Afterwards, we drive through Ouarzazate city before heading to the Dades Valley. The night is spent in a local hotel, with dinner included.

Day 2 – Dades Valley to Merzouga Desert (Gorges & Sahara Sunset)

Breakfast begins the day before we depart for the Sahara Desert. A stop in the beautiful Todra Valley near Tinghir offers great views and a short walk through the Todra Gorges. Red cliffs tower above, with clear water running below.

Lunch is taken at a local restaurant. The journey then continues to Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils. By late afternoon, we arrive in the Merzouga desert. Here begins the classic desert experience: a camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes. The caravan pauses to watch the sunset paint the sand in golden hues.

After sunset, the camels carry you to the desert camp. You’ll be welcomed with tea, followed by dinner and the rhythmic sounds of Berber drums around the fire. The night is spent in traditional tents under the stars.

Day 3 – Merzouga to Fes (Valleys, Cedars & Alpine Scenery)

Today involves a longer drive as we journey from southern to northern Morocco. The first stop is the Ziz Valley, famous for its high-quality dates and expansive palm groves. We continue to Midelt for lunch.

The route then leads to the Cedar Forest, home to wild Barbary apes. A stop here offers a chance to observe these playful primates in their natural habitat. Next comes a visit to Ifrane, often called “Moroccan Switzerland” for its Alpine-style architecture. The final leg brings us to Fes. Expect to arrive around 6 PM for drop-off at your Riad.

Day 4 – Guided Tour of Fes Medina (The Imperial City)

At 9:30 AM, you will meet your local guide at your Riad. The exploration begins by car, visiting the newer part of Fes. Highlights include the ornate Royal Palace gates, a panoramic viewpoint, and a visit to a traditional pottery factory where you can see artisans at work.

Then, the experience deepens as you walk through the old Fes Medina. The labyrinthine alleys reveal the dyers market, the Andalusian and Karouin quarters, a historic Quranic school, and the famous tannery with its vibrant dyeing pits. The tour concludes in the afternoon, leaving you free to relax back at your Riad.

Day 5 – Fes to Chefchaouen (Roman Ruins & Rif Mountains)

Once you are ready, we drive approximately 1.5 hours to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. You can explore the remarkably preserved site on your own or hire a guide to explain its rich history. About 1.5 hours is allotted for this visit.

The journey continues through the Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen, the famed blue city of Morocco. A lunch stop is made along the way. We arrive in Chefchaouen in the late afternoon, where you’ll check into your Riad and have the evening to begin exploring its blue-washed streets.

Day 6 – Chefchaouen to Tangier (The Blue City & Coastal Sights)

A free morning allows you to fully enjoy the beautiful blue town of Chefchaouen. Wander its photogenic alleys, capturing the unique atmosphere that has made it famous.

After lunch, we drive to the coastal city of Tangier. About an hour is available to explore the old city. Afterwards, we take you to Cap Spartel, the dramatic point where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. This spot offers excellent photo opportunities. A visit to the legendary Hercules Caves follows before the short 20-minute drive to the airport. This marks the end of your 6-day tour.
