7 Day Tour from Casablanca to Merzouga

Day 1 – Casablanca to Rabat (Mosques & Kasbahs)

Upon arrival at Casablanca airport, we will welcome you and begin your Moroccan adventure. The first stop is Casablanca itself, where you’ll visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque outside Mecca. Its towering minaret and oceanfront location create an unforgettable introduction to Morocco.

We continue to Morocco’s capital, Rabat. Exploration includes the incomplete Hassan Tower, a 12th-century minaret, and a stroll through the historic Oudaya Kasbah. This ancient fortress offers charming blue-and-white streets and stunning views over the Atlantic. Overnight accommodation awaits at a riad in the heart of the Rabat Medina.

Day 2 – Rabat to Chefchaouen via Asilah and Tangier (Coastal Gems & Blue City)

After breakfast, we journey north toward Chefchaouen, with a significant stop in the coastal city of Asilah. This charming town features a Medina adorned with murals by international artists. A visit to the Skalla fortress rewards you with stunning views of the city and ocean.

Time permitting, we drive through Tangier, glimpsing its historic port and cosmopolitan atmosphere. The route then continues through the foothills of the Rif Mountains, the landscape gradually transforming as we approach our destination.

By late afternoon, we arrive in the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen. Its blue-washed streets and relaxed mountain setting create one of Morocco’s most photogenic destinations. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 3 – Chefchaouen to Fes (Mountain Descent to Spiritual Capital)

After breakfast, we depart for Fes, Morocco’s spiritual heart. The morning is spent wandering the Medina’s narrow alleys, a labyrinth of history and commerce. Key sites include Al Karaouine Mosque and University, the oldest university in the world, Madrasa Bou Inania, with its intricate architecture, the famous Tanneries, and the beautiful Najjarine fountain.

After lunch, we drive outside the Medina to see the ornate Royal Palace gate. A stroll through the Jewish quarter (Mellah) offers insight into Fes’s diverse heritage. A visit to a pottery cooperative reveals the skilled craftsmanship for which the city is famous.

The day concludes with panoramic views from a fortress overlooking the entire city—a perfect vantage point to appreciate Fes’s vast expanse. Overnight in Fes.

Day 4 – Fes to Merzouga Desert (Cedars, Valleys & Camel Trek)

Following breakfast, we travel southeast toward the Sahara. The route passes Ifrane, often called “the Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture. We continue through the cedar forests of Azrou, home to playful Barbary macaques.

Lunch is taken in Midelt, nestled between mountain ranges. The afternoon journey continues through the scenic Ziz Valley, with its vast palm groves stretching along the river. We pass through Erfoud and Rissani, gateways to the desert, before arriving in Merzouga.

Here begins the quintessential desert experience: a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. The caravan carries you to your desert camp as the sun sets, painting the sand in golden hues. Evening brings a traditional dinner around a campfire and an overnight stay in Berber tents, equipped with flush toilets for comfort. Overnight in the desert camp.

Day 5 – Merzouga to Dades Valley (Sunrise, Gorges & Rock Formations)

Start early to catch a breathtaking sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. The first light transforms the landscape into waves of gold and orange. After this magical moment, we return to Merzouga by camel.

Following breakfast at the hotel, we depart for the Dades Valley. The route takes us through the Todra Gorge, the highest and narrowest gorge in Morocco. Towering red cliffs rise dramatically on either side, creating a spectacular canyon.

After lunch, enjoy an optional hike through local fields. A visit to a traditional mud village offers opportunities to interact with locals and learn about rural life. We continue through the Dades Valley, admiring unique rock formations known as “monkey toes” and impressive sand castles carved by wind and time. Overnight at a hotel overlooking the valley.

Day 6 – Dades Valley to Marrakech (Rose Valley, Kasbahs & Atlas Crossing)

After breakfast, we drive through the Dades Valley along the famous “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs.” A stop at Kalaat M’gouna, the “Rose City,” allows time to explore and purchase local rose products—oils, waters, and perfumes made from the valley’s famous blossoms.

The journey continues to Skoura and Bird’s Valley, with a visit to the historic Kasbah Ameridil. This beautifully preserved structure offers a glimpse into the region’s architectural heritage.

We then travel to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Scenic stops along the way offer breathtaking views of the mountain landscape. Upon arrival, check into your riad. In the evening, explore Jemaa El Fna square, enjoying street performances by magicians, storytellers, and musicians that bring the square to life after dark. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 7 – Marrakech to Casablanca Airport (Farewell to Morocco)

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Marrakech’s highlights. Visits include Jemaa El Fna, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs, the intricate Bahia Palace, and the serene Majorelle Gardens. A short visit to the new city (Gueliz) and the Koutoubia Tower completes the exploration.

In the evening, we transfer you to Casablanca airport for your departure. This concludes your 7-day journey through Morocco’s imperial cities, Saharan dunes, and coastal treasures.
